No matter how old I was, every time I saw Uncle James he always teased me over my childhood boyfriend, Sammy (3-6yrs old). Always asked me if I had married him yet! I will treasure that memory forever in my heart.

I remember James hauling me around the old farm in his pickup when I was small, especially during "tobacco setting out" time. He would keep me with him to keep me out of trouble, and even though I was young, he was always funny and fun to be around. I missed the years after 1964 when I went off to the Marines, but we connected again in 2012 and remained very close since. I will miss knowing that he is there waiting for me to come visit again. His life was full, and he liked to share it. His last words to me were, "I love you, Wesley." My last words to him were, "I love you, James." And it felt good. Rest in peace down on the farm, James. You were loved and you will be missed.
