SEVERN – Wilma Lewis Jernigan Plaunty, age 75, of Hwy 35, died Saturday, September 19, 2009, at Guardian Care of Ahoskie.
Mrs. Plaunty was born in Hertford County on September 29, 1933, a daughter of the late Donnie and Glen Lewis. She was a member of Severn Baptist Church and worked as a grader for Severn Peanut Company for over 15 years.
Left to cherish her memory is a daughter, Brenda J. ‘B.J.’ Jernigan and her husband, Richard of Aulander; two sons, William Jernigan and wife, Nancy of Ahoskie, and Lt. Col. David Jernigan and wife, Brenda of Fayetteville, NC; sisters, Doris Ambrose of Harrellsville and Betty Sue Cullipher of Colerain, a brother, Edward Lewis of Mississippi; 16 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2009, at Severn Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Severn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday and other times at the home of Richard & B.J. Jernigan in Aulander. Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to National Parkinson Foundation, Inc., Office of Development, 1501 NW 9th Ave/Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL. 33136-1494.

Aunt Wilma was a wonderful women with the most amazing energy. When I was growing up you always knew when she was around because there was going to be a lot of laughter.
