William Lee Singleton, Sr., 93, died at Guardian Care Nursing Home in Scotland Neck on Saturday, May 23, 2009.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

William was a Veteran of World War II, serving in Italy and Africa. He worked at Lindsay Wire Weaving in Mentor, OH, retiring in 1982.

William was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel; son, Allan, parents, Wray and Fanny Singleton, and siblings, John, Vernon, Winfred, and Ethel.

He is survived by his wife, Carol S. Singleton; son, William Singleton, Jr. of Houston, TX; step-son, Donald Briggs of Cleveland, OH; step-daughters, Diane Moos and husband Ed of Seaside, CA and Mary Ann Coley and husband Josh of Hobgood; sisters, Virginia McDaniel and Barbara Kramer both of St. Clair, MO and Mary Koss of St. Louis, MO; brother, Maurice Singleton of Kirkwood, MO; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Arrangements are being handled by Letchworth Funeral Home in Scotland Neck.
