William Harrison "Billy" Stivers, III

April 12, 1948 - January 30, 2022

William “Billy” Harrison Stivers III was born on April 12, 1948 in Washington, DC. He
passed from this life on January 30, 2022 at the age of 73 in Ahoskie, North Carolina.

Billy was a great man, the very best of the best. He was a kind soul with unlimited
patience and understanding. He was quiet-natured, soft spoken and his warm demeanor
was infectious. He was complicated yet simple and oh so giving, quietly inspiring those
around him. Billy wore many hats; he was a loving father, a devoted husband, a brother,
an uncle, a friend…he was loved by all who knew him. He was the kind of man that
inspired you to be better.

William’s greatest adventures were had outdoors. He lived a sportsman’s life with a true
passion for hunting and fishing. Being outdoors in nature was his happy place, a passion
he passed on to his children. He was an avid cyclist and could be spotted cycling
whenever he could steal a moment to ride.

Billy was preceded in death by his father William Harrison Stivers Jr., mother Myrtle V.
Gatts, and Brother Edward Stivers.

He is survived by his 3 children, William Stivers IV, Randy Stivers, and Melissa Stivers;
3 grandsons, William Stivers V, Jacob Stivers, and Gabriel Stivers; great grandson,
Benjamin Stivers; and 2 sisters Brenda DuLaney and Nancy Reio.

Billy will always be remembered for the love he had for his children, family, and for the
great outdoors.

“WE THINK ABOUT YOU ALWAYS,
WE TALK ABOUT YOU STILL.
YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN FORGOTTEN.
AND YOU NEVER WILL.
WE HOLD YOU CLOSE WITHIN OUR HEARTS
AND THERE YOU WILL REMAIN,
TO WALK AND GUIDE US THROUGH OUR LIVES,
UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN.”
