Mr. William Dale Nelson, age 55 died at the Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, NC on Sunday, May 6, 2012. He was a native of Hertford County. He was married to Nancy Jones Nelson on November 15, 1986. Mr. Nelson was formerly employed by the North Carolina Department of Transportation where he worked for thirty years. He loved to spend time with his cousins, aunts and uncles. His grandkids were his life and loved to spend time with them. He was a wonderful family man that will be dearly missed.
Preceding him in death are his parents Sarah Askew Nelson and Charles Nelson.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Jones Nelson of the home, five daughters, Jennifer Nelson Odom and her friend Stevie Byrum of Kelford, NC, Susan Liverman Hoggard and her friend Bobby Polson of Ahoskie, NC, Karen Liverman Morris and her husband Alan of Ahoskie, NC, Donna Liverman Johnson and her friend Biddy Moore of Powellsville, NC and Brenda Liverman Rawls and her husband Kevin of Ahoskie, NC, three brothers, Tommy Nelson and his wife Trudy of New Bern, NC, Dennis Nelson of Rich Square, NC and Edward Nelson and his wife JoAnn of Lasker, NC. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Alex and Lana Odom, Sidney Hoggard, III, Derek Morris and his wife Katherine, Michael Morris, Alanna Morris, Dean Lassiter and his wife Michele, Jacob Lassiter and Alston Moore and one great grandchild, Kaleb Lassiter.

I grew up with Dale when his family lived in Menola, he was a good childhood friend and over the years I thought of him often,My prayers are with the family.
So sorry to hear about Dale. God will take care of you and families through your time of grieving.

I’m sadden by his departure. I knew him from work and always thought he was a great guy. I missed him when he retired.
