William Brock Slade, age 56, of Scotland Neck, passed away at his home on Sunday, September 19, 2021.
Brock was born on February 26, 1965 to William and Judy Slade. Brock graduated from Hobgood Academy and NC State University with a degree in History and a degree in English. Following graduation, Brock returned home and went to work at Scotland Neck Primary School. He worked at the primary school until his health would not allow. Brock loved NC State Athletics, particularly women’s and men’s basketball. He was a fan of the ACC Tournament and he and his family would decorate the house for the tournament. Brock enjoyed spending time on the computer, emailing friends from school and staying in touch with current events. He also enjoyed Facebook as a way to stay in touch with friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, William George Slade.
Brock is survived by his mother, Judy Slade of the home; his brother, Mark Slade and wife Tami of Scotland Neck; four aunts, Virgie Slade Clay of Roanoke Rapids, Dorothy Slade Woodruff of Emporia, VA, Martha Slade Morris of Enfield, and Hope Slade Ezzell of Scotland Neck; his niece, Bailey Slade of Dunn; his nephew, Turner Slade and wife April of Scotland Neck; and his great-niece, Ava Slade of Scotland Neck.
A celebration of life graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Sunnyside Cemetery in Scotland Neck, with Rev. Paul Spradley officiating.
The family would like to thank Brock’s Aunt Dorothy, Hope, Martha and Virgie for the love and care given to Brock and for the sacrifices made. Also, they would like to thank all of Brock’s helpers that assisted Brock when his father was not able. A special thank you is given to Sammy Alexander, Pete Davis, and Tony Nobles.
