Sylvia Whitehead Watson, 79, of Scotland Neck, passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at The Fountains of the Albemarle in Tarboro, North Carolina.
Sylvia was born in Halifax County on March 1, 1939 to Charles and Maggie Stokes Whitehead. She graduated from Scotland Neck High School and Louisburg College where she played basketball. She married her high school sweetheart, Raymond Watson on March 22, 1959 and to this marriage was born four children. Sylvia was a member of Nahalah Presbyterian Church. She worked as a Controller for Ossid Corporation and retired in 1994. She truly loved her family and one of her greatest joys in life was cooking for them.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Ray Watson, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond of the home; a daughter, Angela Woodlief and her husband, Bryan of Youngsville, NC; two sons, Landon Watson and his wife Jenny of Scotland Neck, NC, Kyle Watson and his wife Christian of Scotland Neck, NC; a granddaughter, Darcy Watson; four grandsons, Thorne Watson, Tyson Watson, Hayden Woodlief, and Beau Watson; a sister, Lynda Whitehead-Taylor of Ahoskie, NC; and two brothers, Charles Whitehead and his wife Patricia, Gary Whitehead and his wife, Kaye all of Scotland Neck, NC.
A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held on Monday, June 4, 2018 at 11:00AM at Sunnyside Cemetery in Scotland Neck, NC. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 3, 2018 from 7:00-8:00PM at Letchworth-Sykes Funeral Service in Scotland Neck, NC.

I grew up in Roseneath area and went to Nahalah with Sylvia. She gave me a second chance and was my boss at Ossis for a short time. I will always be grateful to her! Sending prayers for comfort.
