Sylvia Avery Craft, 81, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2018 at Vidant Edgecombe Hospital in Tarboro.
Sylvia was born on September 27, 1936 in Scotland Neck, NC to the late Henry Avery and Mabel Jernigan Avery. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and sister, Sylvia loved her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and line dancing. Sylvia worked as a homemaker and a pairer at the Halifax Hosiery Mill in Scotland Neck.
In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Kenneth Craft; and her brother, David Avery.
She is survived by her sons, Kevin Craft and wife Carol of Roanoke Rapids and Ken Craft and wife Kelly of Scotland Neck; her grandchildren, Danielle Craft Sloop and husband Justin, Melody Craft, Tommy Craft, and Kelsey Craft; her great-grandchildren, Alyssa Sloop and Stacey Sloop; and a special niece, Rita Avery Thornton of Four Oaks.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Sylvia’s home, 1710 Woodlawn Drive, Scotland Neck.
A celebration of life graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Sunnyside Cemetery in Scotland Neck. Mr. Parker Philips and Mr. Jeffery Thornton will be presiding.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the local charity of your choice.
