RICH SQUARE- Ronnie Lewis Phipps, age 70, of West Jackson Street, passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022, at his home with his wife by his side.

Ronnie was born on April 14, 1951, to Edward Lewis and Anna Hodges Phipps in Ahoskie, North Carolina. Ronnie spent many years working at Resinall in Severn then Shell Furniture in Roanoke Rapids, and later spending twelve years as a salesman at Napa before retiring. He enjoyed coaching baseball, fishing and being a volunteer firefighter in Severn. Ronnie never met a stranger, had the kindest heart and was known for his quirky sense of humor. Ronnie was one-of-a-kind and will be missed by all who knew him.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his father, Edward Lewis Phipps and mother, Anna Inez Hodges Phipps.

Left to cherish Ronnie’s memory is his loving wife Betty, seven children, Jennifer (Jenna) Phipps of High Point, Ronnie (Melissa) Phipps II of Lexington, Candice Phipps of High Point, Jo Ann (Tim) Babb of Roanoke Rapids, Charles (Mary) Keeter of Wasilla, AK, Travis (Chrystal) Keeter of Emporia, and John (Karen) Keeter of Edenton; eighteen grandchildren, Meadow Anne Phipps, Madyson Pait, Zachary (Ali) Phipps, Nevaeh Phipps, Kaydence Phipps, Isaiah Shoffner, Trace Robinson, Matthew Babb, Krissy Babb, William (Jessica) Keeter, Ashley (Andrew) Keeter, Travis Wayne Keeter, Jr., Amber (Ryan) Aerni, Paula (Josh) Britt, Kevin Keeter, Stephen (Sydney) Keeter, Philip Keeter, and Sean Keeter; six great-granchildren, Ember Keeter, Archer Keeter, Ayden Keeter, Asher Keeter, Jaxon Keeter, and Kimber Aerni; sister, Faye Phipps (Joe) Jenkins of Milwaukee, NC; brother Keith (Cathy) Phipps of Aulander; brother-in-law John (Glenda) Morris; special niece Peggy (Teddy) Aston, along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 28, 2022, from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service – Rich Square Chapel, Rich Square, NC.

A celebration of life service will immediately follow visitation on Friday, January 28, 2022, at 3:00 pm at the Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service – Rich Square Chapel, Rich Square, NC, with John Keeter officiating.

We love and will miss you Uncle Ronnie. We had so much fun when you and Aunt Betty Lou came to visit. And I’ll never forget you bragging on my southern cooking. You always kept us laughing and smiling, you will be missed by all who knew you! Go rest high upon that mountain. ❤️✝️
