AHOSKIE, NC- Ralph Patton “Pat” Brabble, 76, of Ahoskie, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 1, 2021 surrounded by his family.

He was born April 18, 1945 in Ahoskie, North Carolina to the late Raeford Harris and Olivia Lee Brabble. He was preceded in death by his brother Dorsey Brabble. Pat Sr. is survived by Martha Brabble, his wife of 55 years; sons Pat Brabble Jr. and wife Lynette, and Scott Brabble and Paula Newmons; granddaughters Kristen Brabble and husband David Sharpe and Wendy Brabble; siblings Raeford Jr., Obed, Libby Parker, David, Jean Burkett, Ronnie, Floyd, and Glenn and their families; Jessie and April Overton, Phillip and Ashley Shaffer, Kayla Overton, Steven and Ashley Jenkins, and Rebecca Clow; many nieces and nephews who all loved “Uncle Pat”; and countless others who knew him fondly as “Big Daddy”.

Pat served in the NC National Guard after high school. In 1970, he opened Brabble Insulation with one used bread truck and built his business up to be local institution with offices in North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia. More importantly for Pat, he built it to be a family business. He was founding member of Liberty Free Will Baptist Church in Ahoskie, helping to build the first church building. Pat Sr. was a light to everyone he met with his kindness and good nature. He was also known as a joker, and he kept his good humor until the end. Most of all, Pat loved having a large family and he loved them all dearly.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the nurses and doctors at PAM Specialty Hospital of Rocky Mount and at UNC Nash Health Care, as well as the nurses of Kindred at Home Wound Care for their truly wonderful care.

A celebration of life graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Highland Memorial Gardens at 3:00 P.M., with Rev. Sandy Outlaw and Rev. Troy Bordeaux officiating.

Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service – Ahoskie Chapel is handling the arrangements for the Brabble family and online condolences can be directed to the family by visiting www.garrettsykesfs.com.

I will always cherish my memory of this man. I went to work for him part time while still in high school and stayed on for a few more years after graduation. Pat was so kind to me, treated me more like one of his son’s than an employee and encouraged me to enlist in the military as he had done. I have never forgotten my time with him and how he was so positive all the time. It is ironic that Pat left this world on the same day as my father. Thank you Martha, Pat Jr, and Scott for sharing this giant of a man with me.
