Passed Away: October 29, 2011

AHOSKIE – Phyllis Story Early, age 86, of W. Stokes St., died Saturday, October 29, 2011, at Guardian Care of Ahoskie.

Mrs. Early was born in Suffolk, VA, on June 6, 1925, a daughter of the late Obie F. and Virginia Earehart Story. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Ahoskie and had retired as an EKG Technician at Roanoke Chowan Hospital. She was the widow of Ray Harmon Early, Sr.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, William S. Early and wife, Laura of Aulander, NC; her grandchildren, Ginger Early Taylor and Ray Harmon Early, III, both of Kinston, NC, Betty Early Adams of Ahoskie, NC, and June M. Early and Gunter Early, both of Greenville, NC. She is also survived by three great grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Early was predeceased by a son, Ray Harmon Early, Jr.

The family will receive friends at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. on Monday and other times at the home. A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home in Ahoskie with the Rev. Dr. Daniel Glaze officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Lawn Cemetery in Suffolk, VA at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
