OAK CITY- Peggy Sue Bunting Latham, age 84, passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021 at her home.

Peggy was born on November 21, 1936, to the late Joe and Nellie Craft Bunting in Martin County, NC. Peggy worked for many years beside her husband at Latham’s Grocery Store, then later at the post office. She was married to her husband, Garland, for over 60 years and throughout those years they built a wonderful family and shared so much love. Peggy was very dedicated to her church as well as her family. She loved to spend time with her family and in her garden planting flowers. Peggy had a beautiful voice and in her younger years she sang in the choir. Peggy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.

Besides her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Garland William Latham; and her son, James Garland Latham.

Left to cherish Peggy’s memory is her three daughters, Deborah “Debbie” Bullock of Oak City, Joanne Cannon and husband Darrell of Oak City, and Connie Williams of Oak City; a sister, Nellie Brown of Oak City; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; as well as many other family and friends.

A celebration of life graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 20, 2021 at the Oak City Cemetery in Oak City, with Rev. Michael Bryan officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service and other times at the home.

Joanne, Debbie and Connie, Buddy & l are so sorry to here of the passing of your mom. Sue was a sweet lady and loved her children and grandchildren very much. I thought a lot of her. We will be praying for you all during this most difficult time.

Sue and Garland shared a love many could only dream of. They traveled together to the Holy Land and experienced the awe of seeing in person that which most only read about.
What a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, Grandmother, and great-grandmother she was.
