Naomi Stroud Braddy, age 87, of Hobgood, passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Vidant Edgecombe Hospital in Tarboro.
Naomi was born on November 6, 1933 to the late Jesse and Janie Stroud in Martin County, NC and graduated from Scotland Neck High School. She married Russell Braddy and they enjoyed sixty-two years of marriage. Naomi worked along with Russell and graded his tobacco until 1972. She loved to cook for family and friends and did so often. Naomi also loved to shop and enjoyed traveling to Europe, Hawaii, the beach, and mountains. She was a faithful member of Hobgood Baptist Church for decades and was an active member of the WMU. She had a generous heart and was the best friend, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother ever!
In addition to her parents, Naomi was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Braddy; her sisters, Nan Livingston, Grace Simon, and Sylvia Brown; and her brothers, Howard Stroud and Curtis Stroud.
Naomi is survived by her three sons, Mike Braddy and wife Virginia, Rusty Braddy and wife Mary-Margaret, and Chris Braddy and wife Jane; her brother, Ben Stroud and wife Ann; her grandsons, Paul Braddy, Kyle Braddy and wife Heather, Sammy Braddy and wife Shelly, Christopher Braddy, and Jacob Braddy; and her great-grandchildren, Samuel Grey, Naomi Claire, and Riley Bell. They all loved Grandma “Nay” and visited often.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Hobgood Baptist Church in Hobgood. A celebration of life graveside service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Hobgood Cemetery with Rev. Don Glendenning officiating.
