Mary Ruth Ross McCracken, 94, died Thursday, August 14, 2008.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 18, 2008 at the Oak City Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Oak City Cemetery. The Reverend Chris Shelton and the Reverend Ken Carlton will be presiding.

Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. She worked for 36 years at Edgecombe Bank and Trust Comapny and was a member of Oak City Baptist Church, where she served as President of the WMU, taught Sunday School, and sang in the church choir.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, H.J. McCracken.

She is survived by her daughter, Tempe M. Tippin of Oak City; son, Jac McCracken of Metairie, LA; sister, Helen R. Benton of Kenansville; four grandchildren, Debbie Newton and husband Jerry, Tracy Flowers, and husband Larry, Robert boettner and wife Kristin, and Ross Boettner, and six great-grandchildren, Vanessa Villalpando, Josh Fresquez, Eric Villalpando, Jackson Villalpando, Chase Boettner, and Reed Boettner.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 17, 2008 at the Oak City Baptist Church, 209 Second Street, Oak City, NC.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Oak City Baptist Church WMU or Music Department, P.O. Box 39, Oak City, NC 27857 or to the Oak City Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 251, Oak City, NC 27857.

Arrangements are being handled by Letchworth Funeral Home in Scotland Neck.
