Marion Sidney Jones, age 83, known to friends as “Sid”, passed away at the The Fountains at The Albermale of Tarboro on Monday, September 24, 2018.
Sid loved being on the road as a salesman his whole life, meeting new people, sharing a smile with everyone he met and always having a good story to tell. He enjoyed countless visits to the Outer Banks with his family, and had a dog named Katie that captured his heart.
Sid is preceded in death by his parents, Madge Harrell and Marion Shaw Jones and his brother, Shawn Jones.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Julia Riddick Jones of Tarboro; two daughters, Julie J. Whitehead and her husband Arthur of Scotland Neck, Sidney Lynn J. Hayes and her husband Alan of Boone; one son, David M. Jones and his wife Angela of Hillsborough; nine grandchildren, Matthew Whitehead and his wife Rachel of Scotland Neck, Luke Whitehead and his wife Anna of Nashville, Adam Whitehead of Dallas, TX, Daniel Hayes and Sidney Hayes, both of Boone, Anna Hayes Cioce and her husband Vince of Kernersville, T`ea Jones, Sam Jones, and Cady Jones all of Hillsborough, four great-grandchildren, Penny and Olivia Whitehead of Scotland Neck, Benjamin and Mary Hatton Whitehead of Nashville, and two more on the way.
A Celebration of Sid’s life will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at the Old Trinity Episcopal Church on Highway 258 North in Scotland Neck, NC, with the Reverend David Luke Whitehead officiating the service. The family will receive friends following the service.
