OAK CITY – Margaret Ann Cannon Moodie, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at her home.

Margaret was born in Martin County, NC on January 12, 1941 to the late William and Winnie McLawhorn Cannon.  She was a loving wife, sister, aunt, and friend.  Margaret was devoted to her family and was a caregiver to her mother-in-law for many years.  She loved her late husband, Tom, greatly and acted as his caregiver until her health failed.  Margaret will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Burton Moodie; her sisters, Nancy Cannon Hall, Sybil Cannon Przypek, Mildred Cannon Reed, and Agnes Cannon Borror; and her brothers, Dallas Cannon, Douglas Cannon, W.B. Cannon, Wilbur Cannon, and Curtis Cannon.

Margaret is survived by her sisters, Thelma Louise Cannon Parker and her husband Leon of Hobgood and Carolyn Cannon of Conetoe; her brothers, Virgil Cannon of Hobgood, Edward Cannon and his wife Patsy of Hampton, VA, and Jimmy Cannon and his wife Karen of Rocky Mount; many loving nieces and nephews; and her dearest friend and longtime caregiver, Deborah Wiggins of Hassell.

The family will host a gathering on Saturday, October 19, 2019 beginning at 12:00 p.m. at the home of Deborah Wiggins to share fond memories of Margaret with those who loved her.
