AHOSKIE, NC – Louise Marie Powell Taylor, age 91, passed away on Saturday evening, March 24, 2018 at Accordious Health at Creekside of Ahoskie, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Taylor was born on January 20, 1927 to Sophronia and Mary Trummell Powell in Hertford County, North Carolina. Marie married the love of her life, the late Melvin Taylor and to this marriage was born four children. She spent her life working as a nursing assistant until retirement, then continued to help people by sitting with the elderly. Marie enjoyed painting, collect antiques, flowers, embroidery, and watching The Price is Right. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, that will be deeply missed by all that love her.

Marie is survived by her son, M. Wayne Taylor and wife “Libby” of Harrellsville, NC; three daughters, Shirley Bennett and husband Robert of Murfreesboro, NC, Katheryn Longenecker and husband Jim of Christiana, PA, and Pat Daniels and husband Henry of Ahoskie, NC; eight granddaughters, Susan Smith and husband Fred of Wake Forest, NC, Clair Saunders of Ahoskie, NC, Brittany Hughes and husband John of Taylors, SC, Ashley Karschner and husband Drew of Rochester, NY, Allysn Marple and husband Jonathan of Warrington, PA, Lauren Troyer and husband Adam of Millsboro, DE, Roxie Daniels Thompson and husband Clint of Windsor, NC, and Ruthie Daniels of Ahoskie, NC; one grandson, Jeremy Bennett and wife Sarah of Swansboro, NC; eleven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Barbara Martin and Lila Davenport, both of Ahoskie, NC.

A celebration of life graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, March 30, 2018 at 4:00 PM at the Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. John Porter and Rev Trey Gilliam, officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

The family sends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Accordious Health at Creekside and Vidant Hospice for the loving care given to Mrs. Taylor.
