RALEIGH, NC – Linda Askew Fornshell, age 76, of Whitaker Mill Road, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at her home. She is survived by one sister, Cindy Peace of Wilson; a daughter, Lisa Anne Fornshell, and three beautiful granddaughters; Sophie, Sadie, and Syris all of Atlanta, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents; Lonnie and Florence Davis Askew, and a brother, Billy Askew, all of Conway, North Carolina.

Special thanks to Oncologist, Dr. Mark Graham and to the many nurses and staff members of Waverly Oncology and Hematology of Cary. They are so loving and caring and were so loved by Linda.

Also, a special thanks to the many friends for their love and support as they called, sent cards, and drove her to and from her many doctor appointments…and those who helped pick up groceries, meds, etc.

While she made and loved many friends in Raleigh, her heart was always back home in Northampton County where she grew up…and in particular the small loving community of Pendleton where she spent her formative years. The members of Roberts Chapel Baptist Church were her extended family, and she had a special place in her heart for all of them. A private burial for family members only will be held at the Roberts Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, Pendleton, NC

Lisa & girls, surly the pride of her life. I just learned of your Mom’s passing light night. I worked with Linda at ESC when you were a little girl, loved her then and still do, she was such a delight to know always a smile and would make you laugh before your conversation was over. She has suffered so much but now she is in the arms of her savior and in no more pain. God be with you and the girls as you go through this time of grief may he grand you peace and comfort knowing he is holding her until you meet again.

Lisa. Your mama was an amazing wonderful woman. Strong in grace and humor. Brilliantly talented. Every time we spoke she always beamed with joy when she spoke of you and those three beautiful granddaughters. We spoke often about camp granny and the fairy garden. She lives on in you and the girls. Many prayers as you navigate this next chapter. May it bring comfort that she rejoices and is no longer in pain. I loved her so very much. Always inspiring and kind.

I was Linda’s Postman of many many years. She was always very polite and would make pickles for me! I would always return her jars for her to make more which she took pride in. After I retired in 2020 she called me to get more pickles which were absolutely delicious. She was a true friend to me!!
