Mr. Leroy Mobley, age 75 died at the Roanoke River Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center on Sunday, May 29, 2011. Mr. Mobley was a native of Martin County. Mr. Mobley served his country with the United States Navy for a total of six years. He worked as a police officer for the town of Oak City, NC part time while working with Jefferson Mills. He also worked as a machinist for Long Manufacturing. For the last twenty five plus years Mr. Mobley worked as a farmer. Mr. Mobley enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Preceding him in death are his mother and father, Etha Lindy Mobley and Jessie Mobley, one sister, Lillian Strickland, three brothers, Garland, Sam and James Mobley.
Survivors include his wife Connie Whitfield Mobley of the home, two daughters, Lucinda M. Sloop of Atlanta, GA, Amanda Hope Warren and her husband Ronnie of Tarboro, NC, four sons; Roy Mobley and his wife Toni of Oak City, NC, Steve Mobley of Durham, NC, Quint Mobley of Rocky Mount, NC and Randy Lee Mobley and his wife Vickie of Williamston, NC, four sisters; Beulah Stalls of Gatesville, NC, Katherine Moore and her husband Ben of Williamston, NC, Thelma Ross of Oak City, NC and Carolyn Belflower and her husband Ed of Oak City, NC, two brothers, Edgar Mobley of Oak City and Frank Mobley and his wife Judy of Hamilton, NC. Twelve grandchildren; Karen Braswell, Miranda Smith, James Harris, Steve Mobley, Jr., Rob Mobley, Jr., Cindy Sloop, Jane Rogers, Jamie Mobley, Tim Sloop, Ryan Mobley, Chelsea Mobley and Jacqueline Mobley along with six great grandchildren.
