Mr. Kenneth Earl Craft, age 75 died at the Our Community Hospital in Scotland Neck on Friday, July 3, 2009. Mr. Craft was a native of Martin County, however made his home in Halifax County in Scotland Neck. He was married to Sylvia Avery and they enjoyed fifty-five wonderful years of marriage and to this marriage were born two children. He was drafted by the United States Army and served a tour of duty. Later he was called back to active duty where he served yet another tour. Mr. Craft worked for Fulflex Manufacturing Company from the time it open until 1996 some twenty-eight years until he retired. Following retirement he began work as a carpenter in Scotland Neck and the surrounding area. Mr. Craft was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed the time he got to spend with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed dancing, gardening and spending time with people.
Preceding him in death are his mother and father, Willie Sills Craft and Wiley Nobles Craft, four brothers; Ben, Buddy, Jerry and Alfred ‘Dunk’ Craft.
Survivors include his wife Sylvia Avery Craft of the home, two sons; Kevin Craft and his wife Carol of Roanoke Rapids, along with their children Danielle and Melody Craft, and Ken Craft and his wife Kelly of Scotland Neck, along with their children Tommy and Kelsey Craft, four sisters; Grace Bunting of Oak City, Jane Madry of Leggett, Alice Bullock and her husband Charlie Mac of Wilmington and Brenda Williamson and her husband Garland of Williamston, three brothers; William ‘Tiny’ Craft and his wife Ruby of Tarboro, Charles Craft and Frankie Craft both of Oak City.
