Mrs. Julia Hardy Cahoon, age 85 died at the Wake Medical Hospital in Cary, NC on Sunday, May 17, 2009. She was a native of Bertie County where she made her home. She was a lifelong member of the Kelford Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for sixty plus years. She was a choir member and deacon of the church for many years. She was a volunteer for the Kelford Rescue Squad serving as an EMT. She was considered a number one seamstress and was known for her care giving and community service. She was known as Aunt Julia by all the children in Kelford.
Preceding her in death are her mother and father, Mary Brown Hardy and W.C. Hardy, her husband, Donald B. Cahoon, three sisters; Mary Lois Wilson, Audrey Vinson and Eunice Old, two brothers; Buck Hardy and J.T. Hardy.
Survivors include one daughter, Faye Cahoon-Byrd and her husband Allen of Cary, NC, one son, Dexter Cahoon and his wife Brenda of Huntersville, NC. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Wayne Cahoon and Kimberly Farmer, five great grandchildren; Austin and Samantha Cahoon, Patience and Jessie Bostic and Tanya Weeks.

Interment will follow at the Roxobel-Kelford Cemtery in Roxobel, North Carolina with the Rev. Doug Spivey officiating.

I was sorry to hear about your loss. When I think about your mom the "cookies and cheese biscuits" come to mind. We had pleasant talks when I visited with her. She will be missed.
