Mr. John Henry Liverman, Jr., age 86 died peacefully at his home on Sunday, January 20, 2013. Mr. Liverman was a native of Northampton County and made his home in Woodland, NC. He was born to the late Sarah Lee Liverman and the John Henry Liverman, Sr. Mr. Liverman served a tour of duty with the U.S. Navy and also joined and retired from the U.S. Army reserves when he reached the rank of Major. He was married to Pat Bryant on September 20, 1959 and to this marriage was born five children. His many accomplishments include, owning and operating J.H. Liverman and Sons grocery store for many years, serving the citizens of Northampton County as a county commissioner for thirty years, served the Department of Social Services Board for many years and had a branch of the new building named for him. Mr. Liverman served the Department of Social Services on the state level as well for a number of years. He was a member of the Woodland Baptist Church where he served as deacon and was the chairman of the deacons on many occasions. He served as the church Sunday School Superintendent, the church moderator and also served the West Chowan Association. For many years he was active in the Woodland Men’s Club. Later in life he enjoyed antique collecting.

Mr. Liverman spent his life for the betterment of Northampton County. He truly lived a life devoted to community service. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife Pat. B. Liverman of the home, three daughters, Ann L. Wright and her husband Dennis of Charlotte, NC, Debbie L. Klinger and her husband David of Aulander, NC and Terry L. Hart and her husband Brandon of Hillsborough, NC, two sons, John H. Liverman, III and his wife Lou Anne of Wilmington, NC and Jimmy Liverman and his wife April of Conway, NC, two sisters, Sarah Lee Mathias of Lexington, SC and Hilda Bryant of Williamston, NC. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, Jacob Wright, Nicholas and Megan Klinger, Jessica, Nathan and Ben Hart, J. Henry Liverman, IV and Ellen Liverman, Ashton, Anna and Allie Liverman.
