Passed Away: October 24, 2011

WINTON – Jimmy Lee Etters, age 68, passed away Monday, October 24, 2011, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, NC.

Jimmy was born on July 17, 1943 in Gates County, a son of the late Robert Franklin and Mildred Greene Etters. He was retired as a crane and fork lift operator for EastCo Aluminum in Winton, and was a member of Winton Baptist Church.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Gladys Gardner Etters of Winton; two sons Bobby Lee Etters of Eure, NC, and Robbie Etters of Conway, NC; sisters, Carolyn ‘Peggy’ Pierce of Eure, NC, Sheila Boone and Ramona Pitts both of Franklin, VA; a brother, Langston Etters of Eure, NC; and three grandchildren, Gabriel Etters, Kathryn Etters and Ethan Etters. He was predeceased by a grandson, Hunter Lee Etters.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 28, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Winton Baptist Church with the Rev. Joseph Futrell officiating. Burial will follow at the homeplace in Gates County. The family will receive friends at the home of Langston Etters, 12 Little Island Rd., Eure, NC., at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 27.

Dear family of Jimmy,

I will not be able to attend the service for Jimmy but I wanted you to know of my caring for him.
Randy knew that he could always count on him and Jimmy knew that as well. That group at Carolina Aluminum (Easco) was a special group. They were family more that co-workers. That really cared about each other. Since Randy's death, each time that I saw Jimmy he reminded me of the "good times". That meant a lot to me, Tim and the rest of our family. I think it meant much to Jimmy too. Thank you for sharing Jimmy for so many years and the work he enjoyed. He was a fine fellow and more than that, A FRIEND.
Please know of my prayers for you and good memories that I hope you have.

Again I say Jimmy will be greatly missed by a lot of people. He was a very good person and cared about everyone. He always spoke to you when he saw you and asked about your family. He would do anything for you that he could. He helped me many times when I had car trouble and was a good friend. Remember the good times you had with him and know that he is with loved ones that he hasn't seen in a long time. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Gloria

I WOULD LIKE TO SAY IT STILL BOTHERS ME THAT I WASN'T ABLE TO ATTEND JIMMY'S SERVICE. JIMMY WAS VERY CLOSE TO MY FAMILY AND HE WOULD ALWAYS STOP BY. JIMMY WAS ONE PERSON THAT I COULD SIT DOWN AND TALK WITH FOR HOURS BECAUSE HE WOULD ALWAYS TELL ME PAST STORIES THAT HE SHARED WITH MY PARENTS. IT WAS NEVER A DULL MOMENT.EVERYTIME JIMMY GOT A VEHICLE HE WOULD BRING IT TO SHOW IT OFF AND I LOVED ALL OF HIS VEHICLES. JIMMY WAS THE MOST CARING MAN I HAVE EVER KNOWN AND HE WOULD GIVE THE SHIRT RIGHT OFF HIS BACK TO HELP YOU. EVEN THO I KNEW JIMMY HAD BEEN SICK FOR YEARS, IT WAS A BIG SHOCK WHEN MOM CALLED ME AND TOLD ME JIMMY HAD PASSED AWAY. FOR GLADYS, ROBBIE (TJ) BOBBY, CAROLYN LANGSTON AND TO ALL HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS JIMMY WILL BE GREATLY MISSED BY ME AND HIS MEMORY AND LEGACY WILL LIVE ON FOREVER! LOVE YA JIMMY AND ALWAYS WILL!

Sorry for the lost of Jimmy , Jimmy was a good friend of mine & a hard worker i worked with jimmy for over twenty years .At Easco Alum. I know he will be missed bye his family and friends , May GOD BLESS them all.

I too thank you for sharing Jimmy with us. I worked with Jimmy for 9 years at Carolina Aluminum. The first thing I noticed about Jimmy was his extremely slim physique and long legs. The second thing I noticed was his love for his family which included his co-workers at Carolina Aluminum. One couldn‚??t help but notice Jimmy‚??s work ethics. He was as hard working and honest a man as there ever was. He took pride in his work, wanted things done right and timely, was always willing to go the extra mile.

Jimmy had significant health issues, but he always came to work regardless; he asked how others were feeling, and always did his best when most people would have just called in sick.

I rejoice for Jimmy that he‚??s left his worn out body behind, he‚??s happy and healed now, is enjoying a grand reunion in Heaven with family, with Hunter,and former Carolina Aluminum co-workers. I imagine Jimmy‚??s already asked the Lord if there‚??s any work he can do for Him.

Weeping endures for a night, but joy
