Mr. James Owen Weeks, 84, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Heritage Hospital with his wife faithfully by his side. A native of Halifax County, Mr. Weeks graduated from high school and attended both NCSU and ECU. He then bravely served his country during WWII, where he was stationed in Tinian and Saipan. Following his tour of duty, he returned home and married the love of his life, Virginia Hagans, in 1949. They settled in the Dawson Community in 1954, where Mr. Weeks farmed and reared his family of two daughters. He was a member and deacon of Dawson Baptist Church and was a very kind, loving and devoted husband and father.Mr. Weeks was preceded in death by his mother, Vernon Hope Simmons Weeks and father, Owen Clinton Weeks.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Virginia Hagans Weeks; daughter Linda W. Peterson and her husband Skip of Raleigh; daughter, Kim W. Braxton and her husband G.W. of Scotland Neck; sister, Peggy W. Johnson and her husband Jerry of Halifax.
