AHOSKIE, NC – James Lemuel Ward, age 71, of Pembroke Avenue, passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at the Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital of Ahoskie, NC.

Jim was born on February 25, 1950 to James Miley Ward and Clara Dilday Ward Smith in Ahoskie, NC. He spent most of his career in retail sales of building materials until retiring and doing some contracting on his own. Jim cherished his family, especially his daughter and the apple of his eye, R J “P-Nut”, his grandson. He was a member of the Roanoke Chowan Shriners. He always had a desire to have a Harley Davidson motorcycle and fulfilled that desire Christmas shopping. He enjoyed spending time at the beach, one day wishing to retire and move to the Outer Banks to live. Jim was loved deeply by his family and will truly be missed by his family and friends.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Johnnie Ward.

 

Left to cherish Jim’s memory is his wife, Judy, his daughter, Amanda Ward Little; and his grandson, R J Little.

The family will receive friends Saturday, December 18, 2021, from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, and other times at the home of his daughter.

A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at 2:00 pm at the Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Gary Saffel officiating. Burial will follow at Roberts Chapel Church cemetery in Pendleton, NC.
