Beloved husband, father and grandfather, Ivey Coolidge Clark, 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Chesapeake, Virginia on Tuesday, October 30, 2012. Ivey was born in Hertford County, North Carolina to Nettie (Simons) and Jim Clark. He had 13 brothers and sisters; Milton, Jimmy, Buck, Horace, Billy, Sidney, Bernice, Nancy, Blanche, Faye and Vivian.

Ivey is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Jones Clark of Chesapeake, VA, son Phillip Clark of Irmo, SC, his wife, Carol and their children, Lauren and Joshua Clark; daughter Pamela King of Suffolk, VA, her husband, David and their daughter Amanda; Paula Epley of Chesapeake, VA and her daughters Ashley and Alexandra; sisters Jean Morton of Birmingham, AL and Marie Cook of Rich Square, NC.

Ivey retired from Colonial Chevrolet after 33 years as a body and fender repair technician and was retired for 20 years. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, and fishing.

He never met a person he did not know. He was a member of the greatest generation and instilled great strength and character in his children and left a lasting impression on everyone who knew and loved him.

A graveside service will be held at Jobs Cemetery in Aulander, NC, Friday, November 2, 2012 at 11:00 A.M.

The family will meet and greet friends following the graveside service.

IVY WHAT A GREAT FRIEND TO ME AND EVERYONE THAT WORKED AT COLONIAL. HE TOOK A LOT OF TIME TO TEACH ME GOLF LESSONS. IT IS SOMETHING I WILL ALWAYS CHERISH.HE WILL BE MISSED. I WISH ALL THE FAMILY MY CONDOLENCES AT THIS TIME OF NEED.

Ivey was a true friend. We shared many interests including our love of golf and of course our Granddaughters. IVEY was a man among men who worked hard all his life to raise his family. He will be very much missed by all that knew him. My prayers go out to Dorthy and the rest of the family at this sad time.

I WORKED WITH IVEY AT COLONIAL CHEVROLET FOR ALMOST 20 YEARS. HE WAS A GREAT GUY AND I REALLY THOUGHT ALOT OF HIM.I ALWAYS ENJOYED THE TIMES THAT WE PLAYED GOLF TOGETHER.HE WILL BE MISSED.

May the Dear Lord give you all the grace to bear the loss of Mr. Clark. Phil, I will always remember how much your Dad supported us on the football field. He was the real "Superman." I saw your father at Harris Teeter about a month ago and was shocked to see his obit yesterday. He always remembered me when we bumped into one another. I will miss those random meetings and the opportunity to catch up on what you are doing down in South Carolina. Give me a shout when things settle down for you and the family.
