He was born on December 25, 1933 to the late Lee Robert and Catherine Hale.  Henry Earl grew up on a farm in Martin County and continued farming all of his life.  He moved from Martin County to Halifax County in the late 1950s and was married to Jo Ann Lynn on September 15, 1972.  He and Jo Ann started a family and raised two daughters during this time.  Henry Earl’s life was his family and farming.  He loved the Lord and studied his Bible on a regular basis. Henry Earl and Jo Ann attended church regularly when their health would allow.

In addition to his parents, Henry Earl was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Henry Earl is survived by his devoted wife of forty-nine years, Jo Ann; his daughters, Kim Hale Watson of Tarboro and Robin Hale Brown and husband Andy of Rocky Mount; his granddaughters, Kayla Nichols of Tarboro and Amanda Larwa and husband Stephen of Rocky Mount; his grandsons, Allen Brown and Charles Brown both of Rocky Mount; and his sister, Lucy Mathena of Quinton, VA.  Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Elmwood Cemetery in Enfield, with Rev. Mitchell Norville officiating.

Due to Covid-19 the family will not be receiving friends at the home and ask that everyone planning to attend the graveside service please wear a mask.

I love and will miss you uncle Henry, and all that stories my daddy would tell me about you and him. You were more like brothers than uncle and nephew. I know you’re up there with him and the rest of the family and no more pain may God give comfort to the rest of the family and know that we all love you and we’re here for you.
