AULANDER, NC – Helen Johnson Farmer, age 90, of Francis Mill township, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at her home.
Mrs. Farmer was born on October 29, 1929 to William McKinley and Martha Ellen Brown Johnson in Bertie County, North Carolina. Helen married the love of her life in 1946 and to this marriage was born three children. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with all of them as often as possible. Helen was a hard-working woman that enjoyed making money. She has worked with Harrington Manufacturing, Ahoskie Sewing Factory, as a USDA inspector for Perdue, but most of all enjoyed being known as the “Avon Lady”, selling Avon for many years. Helen was a devoted member of Ebenezer Assembly of God Church and enjoyed going on excursions with her church family. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
Besides her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lee Roy Farmer, Sr., her sister, Ruth Tripp; and her brothers, Wesley, Charlie, J.C., and David Johnson.
Helen is survived by her three sons, Bobby Lee Farmer and wife Debbie of Edenton, Willie Louis Farmer and wife Rebecca of Aulander, and Lee Roy Farmer, Jr. of Aulander; four granddaughters, Christa Leigh Farmer of Chocowinity, Jenny Hughes and husband Greg of Windsor, Kelly Farmer White and husband Joseph of Goldsboro, and Monica Adkins and husband Chris of Perquimans; four grandsons, Willie Louis Farmer, Jr. of Francis Mill, Lee Roy Farmer, III of Roxobel, Clayton Farmer and wife Linda of Ahoskie, and Tim Bunch of Elizabeth City; seventeen great grandchildren, Tiffany Lynn Turner and husband Alex of Pinehurst, Sarah Farmer of Roxobel, Austin Wyatt Hughes of Windsor, Madison Farmer-Cashion of Chocowinity, Bryleigh Braxton of Chocowinity, Autumn Bunch of Elizabeth City, Austin Overton of Tyner, Sam Adkins of Tyner, Ashton Farmer of Roxobel, Brooke Farmer of Roxobel, Lee Roy Farmer, IV of Roxobel, Chase Farmer of Roxobel, Trey Bowen of Gatesville, Kadin White of Goldsboro, Tyler Jernigan of Ahoskie, Lillie Farmer of Ahoskie, and Macy Farmer of Ahoskie; one great-great-grandson, Maddox Turner of Pinehurst; two sisters, Jean Pierce of Windsor, and Faye Thompson of Windsor; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 22, 2019, from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Memorial Chapel, Aulander, NC and other times at the home.
A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at 11:00 am at the Ebenezer Assembly of God Church, Aulander, NC, with the Rev. Tim Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Aulander Cemetery, Aulander, NC
