Mr. Gilbert Wayne Williams age 78 of Ahoskie died Thursday, September 8, 2011 at his home. He was born February 7, 1933 in Pasquotank Co. to the late Butler Williams and Delma Armstrong Williams.
He was an Air Force veteran serving in the Korean Conflict, a member of Earlys Baptist Church, retired from the NCDOT and Tour Bus driving and was a member of the Davie Masonic Lodge #39.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, September 11, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home in Ahoskie. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. Rev. Charles Lockwood will officiate.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Gloria J. Williams of the home, his daughter Susan Lynne Williams of Ahoskie, and a brother Harvey Williams of Edenton.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Jean Cobb Williams and a sister Shirley Harrell.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home in Ahoskie and other times at the home.

To Lynn & gloria & Uncle Harvey, I feel your pain of loss and I am so sorry I could not be there to help celebrate Uncle Gilbert’s life with you. Circumstances would not allow for me to be there. Please know I loved him with all my heart and losing him and my mother so close together is tearing me apart. I widsh I could be there to confort you; just know you are in my prayers and if there is anything I can do to help you in any way, please let me know and I will do my best to fulfill that need.I love you guys so much and will miss Uncle Gilbert and my mom the rest of my life. mrs williams, so sorry to hear of mr wiliams passing. i only knew him from the hospital, of course, but he was always so easy to care for. even the time we couldn’t find an iv site. hold on to your memories. they will help to sustain you.
