HARRELLSVILLE, NC – Our mother, Geraldine Miller Holloman, age 96, joined the heavenly choir Sunday morning, August 5, 2018. Now, after almost five years she can hear the music, see and understand all the words of the hymns. Daddy is probably in the swing since he has all the gardens ready for her to see. She was born September 1921 to James Riddick and Effie Lowe Miller. There were ten brothers and one sister. That must have been a busy household. Her hands were never idol. Easter pictures show us both in homemade frocks.
Mother canned, froze, pickled, preserved and cooked every fruit and vegetable available. There must be over 200 jars in the “wash house”. Her quilts won state fair blue ribbons and now cover most of our beds. She taught Bible School, Sunday School, G.A.’s and Y.W.A. She was a leader in Women’s Missionary Union and Hertford County Homemakers Club. Mother was also a choir member of Colerain Baptist Church. We all tilled the farmland soil and reaped its harvest. She and Daddy taught us the value of hard work, but also the joys of faith, friends, family and travel.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Audrey H. Lassiter and husband Jim of Raleigh, NC, and Sandra H. Holloman and husband, Joe of Harrellsville, NC; two grandsons, Jim Lassiter and wife, Susan and Dean Lassiter and wife Adrian of Wilmington, NC; and great grandchildren Noah and AnnaGrey Lassiter and Evan, Julia and Smith Lassiter.
A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, Aug. 9 at 2:00pm at Colerain Baptist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service in the church Fellowship Hall from 1:00pm – 1:45pm. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie, NC.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made directly to Colerain Baptist Church, PO Box 126, Colerain, NC 27942, or online by clicking here, or Community Hospice, 200 Green St, Suite 203, Williamston, NC 27892, or online by clicking here, or any Christian charity of your choice.

My cousin in Ahoskie sent me your dear mother”s obituary. I have to say that as I was reading it I could both see and hear Cousin Geraldine so clearly. Your words really captured the wonderful life she lived and the giving person she was! What fun memories I have of my days in Colerain!
What a blessed long life. Thoughts and prayers for you all.
What a wonderful neighbor she was to the Mitchell family and others in our community.
Such a beautiful story of a life well lived. Blessings and condolences to you all.
