AHOSKIE, NC – Frances Marie Harrell, 87, of Center Grove Road, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at the Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital of Ahoskie, NC.

Marie was born on February 11, 1933 to Sebron Carr and Foye Jernigan Morris. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, that devoted her life to taking care of her family. Marie enjoyed using her hands, sewing, crocheting, ceramics, upholstery, and gardening amongst many other craft ideas. She also loved to enjoy the peace and quiet of reading a book. Marie will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty-four years, Adolph Menjue Harrell, three brothers, Walter Morris, Staley Morris, and Earl Morris, and five sisters, Sybil Mitchell, Lois Lassiter, Sylvia Macon, Barbara Perry, and Edna Matthews.

Marie is survived by two daughters, Cindi Jernigan and husband Vandy, and Cheryl Mizelle and husband Faron, both of Colerain; two sons, Tim Harrell and wife Robin of Ahoskie, and Jerry Harrell and wife Natalie of Benson, NC; five grandsons, Erik Jernigan and wife Sherri of Wake Forest, NC,  Brooks Jernigan and wife Kelly of Morehead City, NC, Blane  Jernigan and wife Morgan of Greenville, NC, T.C. Harrell of Ahoskie, NC, and Noah Harrell of Jacksonville, NC; three granddaughters, Jordan  Parker and husband Brian of Ahoskie, Jody  Mizelle of Colerain, and Caitlin Vaughn of Wilmington,NC; four great grandsons,  Damon Hoggard and wife Charlee of Beaufort, NC, Jaxon Lawrence of Morehead City, NC and Baby Boy A and B Parker of Ahoskie; two great granddaughters, Riley Lawrence of Morehead City, NC, and Cassidy  Parker of Ahoskie; and great-great grandson Haze Hoggard of Beaufort, NC;  sister, Margie Liverman, of Newport News, VA, a special caregiver, Nelda Luke; several nieces and nephews, and her fur baby, Gizmo.

Due to the circumstances with COVID-19 restrictions, Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC will be open for friends to pay their respects and sign the register book on Monday, May 11, 2020, from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at 2:00 pm at the Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Roger Kiker officiating.

My lil’man absolutely ADORED his Aunt Reeree & Uncle Sweetpeas as they did him…..I have a special place in my soul for the ones like them that helped, w/out judgement and scooped us up & into their love filled lives in a snap…..
i am so fortunate to have had these two BEAUTIFULLY SOULED people in my life!

Sweet memory one sunday your Mom asked to go for a ride in my red VW. Then we went home and your Dad made is ham sandwiches for lunch. They both were so sweet with mischievous smiles especially your Mom. So sorry for your loss.

One of my favorite friends. She was so smart and could do anything she decided she wanted to do. She and Adolph were special.
