Mrs. Ethel Roane Vick, age 83 died at the Roanoke Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie on Saturday, March 21, 2009. She is a native of Bertie County, born to the late Rosa L. Roane and Junius Vance Roane, Sr. Mrs. Vick was a member of the Kelford Baptist Church in Kelford, North Carolina. She retired as a business agent from the International Ladies Garment Workers Union out of Atlanta, Georgia, after twenty years of service. Also preceding her in death are her husband, Horace Judson Vick and her brother Junius Vance Roane, Jr.

Survivors include four daughters; Edith V. Wallace and her husband David of Scotland Neck, Nancy V. Smith and her husband Troy of Rich Square, Aleene V. Boone and her husband Robert of Rich Square and Wanda V. Johnson and her husband Jerry of Roxobel, one sister, Rose R. Sumner and her husband Ted of Conway and one brother, William Roane and his wife Eleanor of Moscow, Tennessee. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Troy Smith, Jr. and his wife Kathy, Daryl Smith and his wife Shannon, Robert W. Boone, Jr. and his wife Sarah, Andy Johnson and Renee’ Farmer, along with seven great grandchildren; Meghan Smith, LauraLee Smith, Stacey Townsend, Avery Boone, Judson Smith, Brooke Freeman and Sarah Freeman.
