Ellis Franklin “Frank” Arthur, Jr., age 70, of Scotland Neck, died at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville surrounded by his family on Wednesday, February 6, 2019.

Frank was born on October 2, 1948 to Ellis F. Arthur and Virginia Landrum Barksdale.  He grew up in South Boston, Virginia and graduated from Halifax County Senior High School in South Boston.  Frank joined the Marine Corps in 1967.  He married Shirley Byrum on October 18, 1969 and to this marriage was born two daughters  Frank retired in December 2016 from Henderson Lumber Company in Tarboro.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Shirley Byrum Arthur; two daughters, Ginnie Arthur Lilley of Scotland Neck and Susan Arthur Dimitriadis and husband Nikos of Manning, SC; his favorite granddaughter, Meagan Lilley of Raleigh; his favorite grandson, Blaine Lilley of Scotland Neck; his step-mother, Alease Arthur of Alta Vista, VA; his brother-in-law, John Byrum and wife Amy of Tarboro; and his sister-in-law, Carolyn Hollomon of Suffolk, VA.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Letchworth-Sykes Funeral Service in Scotland Neck.  A celebration of life memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Paul Spradley presiding.
