At Converse, Betty was nicknamed “Sappie” by her dear friends. She was an energetic leader serving as Chairman of the Judicial Board. Betty remembered her college days with great fondness and her eyes would light up when speaking of her days at Converse College and the lifelong friends she formed during those years.

Pleasant, SC.

As President of the Ahoskie Garden Club, Betty shared her God-given gift of arranging flowers for church events, weddings, birthday parties and other special events. An active member of her community, she formed many special friendships that grew from the sharing of her gifts, talents and experiences. Betty was active with the North Carolina Symphony and was appointed by the Governor of the State of NC to serve as a member of the Murfreesboro Historic Association. She was a devoted communicant at St. Thomas Episcopal Church where she served on the Alter Guild for eighteen years and taught Sunday school for many years.

The family would like to express their gratitude for all the love, exceptional care and support offered by special friends and caregivers for the last nine years at The Fountains of the Albemarle and Kindred Hospice of Tarboro, NC.
