Elizabeth “Betsy” Allsbrook Joyner, age 71, of Scotland Neck, passed away on January 20, 2019 at Vidant Edgecombe Hospital in Tarboro, NC.

Betsy was born on July 1, 1947 to the late John and Beatrice Shearin Allsbrook in Rocky Mount, NC. She worked as a Medical Transcriptionist for UNC, Duke, and various other locations independently. Her favorite past times included books, reading, and spending time with her grandkids. Betsy loved lighthouses and the beach, especially Hatteras and Ocracoke. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Betsy is survived by her son, Travis Joyner and his fiance’ Jill Marie Cox of Smithfield, VA; her daughter, Kelly Elizabeth Joyner Turner and her husband David Barry, Jr. of Butner, NC; her brother, John L. Allsbrook, III of Scotland Neck, NC; two granddaughters, Chloe Beth Turner of Butner, NC, Madelyn Riley Joyner of Chesapeake, VA; three grandsons, Jacob Travis Joyner of Smithfield, VA, Kai David Turner of Butner, NC, Keaton Kale Turner of Butner, NC; her partner, Cliff Ayscue of Scotland Neck, NC; and her beloved chihuahua, Lily Blair.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Letchworth-Sykes Funeral Service in Scotland Neck, NC, with Mr. Archie Worley officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the chapel.
