Edward Lerou “Bill” Brown, 94, passed away on Monday, November 13, 2017 at the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Fayetteville.

Bill was born on May 10, 1923 in Athens, GA to the late Zeb Elisha and Mary Cowan Brown.  Bill graduated from Scotland Neck High School and worked for many years as an office manager at Fulflex in Scotland Neck.  A loving and devoted husband, father, and grampy, he served in the U.S. Army and was a Veteran of World War II.  Bill served actively in the American Legion Roanoke Post #34, was a 33rd Degree Master Mason and a member of Scotland Neck Masonic Lodge #689, and a long-time member of Scotland Neck United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth Whitaker Brown.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda Brown Fuller and husband Lee of Knightdale; his son, Eddie Brown and wife Jan of Rocky Mount; his grandchildren, Sharon Fuller Koon and husband John, Brenda Fuller Petko and husband Terry, Clay Brown and wife Kellie, Corey Brown and wife Lindsey, and Chris Brown and wife Katelynn; and his great-grandchildren, Evan Petko, Dylan Petko, Ashlyn Koon, Dayla Brown, Bailey Brown, Reagan Brown, Riley Brown, Georgia Brown, and Allie Brown.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at the Scotland Neck United Methodist Church.  Interment will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery.  The Reverend Doctor James Drake and the Reverend Dusty Sprouse will be presiding.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. in the church fellowship hall prior to the service.
