CHARLOTTE, NC: Edgar Norfleet Poston, age 61, had a tragic fall and passed away peacefully on July 20, 2016 at the Carolinas Medical Center of Charlotte.
A native Charlottean, Mr. Poston, was born on February 20, 1955. He was the youngest of five children to Margaret Andrews Norfleet Poston and the late Frank Huling Poston, Jr. Edgar was named after the well-known Dr. Edgar Norfleet from Bertie County.
Edgar spent his childhood summers at Nags Head, NC at the family cottage and on the family farm in Roxobel, NC. Another one of his childhood summer highlights was going to camp at Camp Sea Gull in Arapahoe, NC with friends. Edgar had loyal friends through his school years from Myers Park Elementary School to Myers Park High School. Following graduation, he attended Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, NC.
Edgar was devoted to his mother and enjoyed spending fall and spring days on the family farm in Bertie County. He was very compassionate and loved animals, especially his dog, Bull. His dear friend, Mark and his family, will love and take care of Bull following Edgar’s sudden death.
Edgar is survived by his mother; two sisters, Margaret Poston Frieze and her husband Walter “Buddy” of Waxhaw, NC and Virginia Poston Nivens and her husband John, their children David Beekman and Virginia Swiler and her husband Lance, of Charlotte; two brothers, Frank “Hu” Huling Poston, III and his wife Marret and their son, Frank Huling Poston, IV, of Vass, NC and Alfred Eason Poston and his wife Elizabeth “Beth”, and their son Eason Norfleet Poston, of Charlotte. Surviving are numerous extended family members including the Elizabeth Stallings and William Norfleet families. Also, Edgar’s family would like to acknowledge the love and support of his loyal friends Shane and Pat.
A private family graveside celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2016, at 1:00 pm at the Norfleet Family Cemetery in Roxobel, NC with the Reverend Doug Spivey officiating.
