Doris Jean Myers Lovette, age 83, formerly of Ahoskie, passed away on Monday, September 24, 2018 at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital in Virginia Beach, VA.

Mrs. Lovette was born on February 17, 1935 to Jesse Bernard and Doris Cowan Myers in Ahoskie, NC. Jean enjoyed reading, shopping, magazines, wrestling, chocolate cake, and mayonnaise. She was an avid Braves baseball fan. Jean loved all animals. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many and was affectionately known as “Granny”.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Harold Lovette, her son, Michael Stephenson Baker, and her sister, Joyce Ann Phelps.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Pamela Baker King and husband Curtis Wolfarth of Virginia Beach, VA; two step-sons, Brian Keith Lovette of Atlanta, GA, and Dennis Mitchell Lovette of Houston, TX; grandson, Jared Michael King of Winston-Salem, NC; granddaughter, Amanda Marie King of Virginia Beach, VA; step-grandson, Jefferson Lovette of Atlanta, GA; three brothers, Jesse “JB” Bernard Myers Jr. and wife Joyce of Ahoskie, NC, Carroll Spencer Myers of Ahoskie, NC, and Bobby Hyde Myers and wife Linda of Murfreesboro, NC; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends, that all knew her as “GRANNY”.

A celebration of life graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018, at 11:00 am at the Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Joe Lassiter, officiating.
