AULANDER, NC – Donald Rupert Lassiter, age 77, of St. John-Millennium Road, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at the Vidant Medical Center of Greenville, NC.

Mr. Lassiter was born on March 27, 1944 to Brodie Lassiter and Mavis Harrington Lassiter in Aulander, NC. Donnie, affectionately known as “DADA” cherished his family, especially his granddaughters which were the apples of his eye. He was a Godly man that loved his Lord deeply and enjoyed his time that he spent worshipping Him. Donnie was a brick mason by trade, which he worked very hard at for many years. He enjoyed using his God given talent to bless others by making repairs at no charge. Donnie liked to work in the yard and could grow nearly anything with his green thumb. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all.

Along with his parents, Donnie was preceded in death by his daughter, Darlene Lassiter, and a brother, Anthony Lassiter.

Left to cherish Donnie’s memory is his wife Diane, his son, Don Lassiter and wife Rachel; two granddaughters, Carleigh and Keira Lassiter; three brothers, Bobby Lassiter, Larry Lassiter, and Ricky Lassiter and wife Joyce, all of Aulander, and several nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 3, 2021, from 12:00 pm until 1:45 pm at Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church, Aulander, NC with a celebration of life funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm in the church with Rev. Taylor Latham and Pastor Greg Hurdle officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie, NC.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Global Outreach Missions in C/O Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church, PO Box 416, Aulander, NC 27805 or online by clicking here

Mr Donnie was my Mammy’s neighbor. I spent every free minute I had growing up at Mammy’s. I was never there when I didn’t see him laboring to keep his home and his yard beautiful. He let me eat my belly full of muscadine grapes daily once they were ready. He was a truly good man and I never saw him without a smiling face. I know he will be missed by our community, the church, and his family.
