David Ray Cooke, Sr.

August 17, 1934 - December 20, 2017

AHOSKIE, NC – David Ray Cooke, Sr., age 83, of Ahoskie, passed away on December 20, 2017 at Accordius Health at Creekside in Ahoskie, NC.

Mr. Cooke was born in Ahoskie, NC on August 17, 1934, a son of the late David and Janie Burden Cooke.  Ray retired as a machinist at Alamac Knit Fabrics, Inc.  He also served in the United States Army. He was a loving husband, father, and granddaddy.  Ray loved working outside and working on his cars.  He was a friend to many.  In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his sisters, Martha Hargrove, California; Marie Strickland, Ahoskie, NC, and Peggy Dunlow, Williamston, NC.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Virginia Adams Cooke; his son, David Ray Cooke, Jr.  of Williamston, NC, his daughter, Anna Cooke Edwards and husband Franklin of Ahoskie, NC, his grandson, Christopher David Cooke of Stokes, NC, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 22, 2017, from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC.

A celebration of life graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2017, at 11:00 am at the Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Paul Ange, officiating.
