AULANDER, NC – David Lee Joyner, age 69, passed away in the early morning hours on Friday, August 23, 2019 at the Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital of Ahoskie, NC.
Mr. Joyner was born on May 31, 1950 to Clifton T. Joyner and Mary Baugham Joyner in Northampton County, NC. David was a devoted supporter of St. John’s Baptist Church. He was a hard-working farmer and businessman, owning Joyner Brothers Inc., Joyner Farms Inc., The Corner Shop, and St John Karts. His true passion was farming and raising his cattle. David was a lover of nature and the land. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. David was a true family man and always put his children and grandchildren first. He was a good friend to everyone and was always available to lend a helping hand whenever he could. David will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas H. Joyner, and a sister, Edith Joyner Byrum.
Left to cherish David’s memory is his loving wife Janet of 48 years, of the home, two sons, Gregory O’Neal Joyner and special friend Alicia Hignite Farmer, and Russell Lee Joyner and wife Anelle, both of Aulander; four grandchildren, Grayson O’Neal Joyner, Camryn Grace Joyner, Madison Lee Joyner, Mason Reed Joyner; two brothers, Clifton T. Joyner Jr. and wife Patty of Winton, NC, and R. Earl Joyner of Woodland, NC; sister, Barbara Outland and husband Johnny of Woodland, NC; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 24, 2019, from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, and other times at the home.
A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2019, 2:00 pm at the St. Johns Baptist Church, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Douglas VanNiel, officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Woodland, NC.

David was a ray of sunshine on days we would work Little Debbies at the Corner Shop . David would always come over & chat for a few minutes & brighten up the otherwise very busy day for both of us. Our prayers are with all the family.
