CONWAY, NC – Clifford Leon Galloway, age 82, of Creeksville Road, passed away peacefully, on Monday, January 3, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.
A native of Northampton County, Mr. Galloway was born on December 23, 1939 to Cliff and Edna Tillery Galloway in Pendleton, NC. Leon was a devoted member of Creeksville Baptist Church for 58 years, where he served in many different capacities, including serving as a Deacon, Adult Men’s Sunday School Teacher, Member of the Choir, and serving in the Brotherhood for many years. He was ALWAYS a Christian example to his family and friends. He cherished his family deeply, especially his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved his Lord and enjoyed nature. He felt closest to the Lord when he was outdoors. His hobbies included riding horses, cooking brunswick stew, cutting grass, and gardening. He was always working with his hands and enjoyed planting a big garden to share with his family, church family, and community. Leon was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Estelle Vann, and his father-in-law, Jesse Hall, who treated him like his very own.
Left to cherish Leon’s memory is his beloved wife of sixty years, Sondra “Sonnie”, four daughters, Edna Vaughan and husband Keith of Seymour, TN, Sherry Storey of Conway, NC, Kimberly Thomas and husband Richard of Jackson, NC, and Wanda Galloway of Conway, NC; a son, Leon Galloway, Jr.and wife Brandy of Conway, NC; seven granddaughters, Danielle Greening and husband Nate, Amanda Dixon and husband Timmy, Tabitha Storey, Faith Stone and husband Sam, Leah Thomas, Brandy Salloum and husband Michael, and Morgan Taylor and husband Jon; five grandsons, Dustin Vaughan and wife Emily, Zebulon Thomas, Austin Davis and fiancé Mollie, Peyton Galloway, and Alex Galloway; ten great-granddaughters, Ellie Greening, Harper Vaughan, Kiersten Dixon, Bryleigh Dixon, Arrionna Benton, Myla Salloum, Paislee Davis, McKenzie Davis, Ava Taylor, and Ivy Taylor; five great-grandsons, Benjamin Greening, Hudson Vaughan, Rylan Dixon, Reagan Benton, and Axl Salloum; his mother-in-law, Annie Ruth Hall; three sisters, Frances Edwards, Marie Francis, and Ellen Vann; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the Creeksville Baptist Church, the family will receive friends one hour prior from 1:00 until 1:45 pm in the Sanctuary and burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Matt Ledbetter, Rev. Matt Miles, and son-in-law, Rev. Keith Vaughan will be officiating.
