COLERAIN, NC – Charlie Henry Cullipher, Jr. age, 86, died Friday, May 13, 2022, at Bertie Vidant Hospital in Windsor, NC, with his family by his side.
Mr. Cullipher was born in Bertie County, NC on August 8, 1935, a son of the late Charlie Henry, Sr. and Goldie Marie Morris Cullipher. Charlie loved working and tilling the land and therefore spent most of his life farming. After retiring from farming, Charlie took to the road and was as trucker and heavy equipment operator for Waters & Waters Construction and Robertson Brothers. Charlie was a longtime member of Bethany Baptist Church where he served in many capacities, including Deacon and Superintendent of Sunday School. He was a founding member of Perrytown Volunteer Fire Department where he served as former fire chief. Charlie served his country as a member of the NC National Guard, serving in the tank company and he was a Mason. Charlie was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles Vandy Cullipher.
Charlie is survived by his devoted wife Bettie Sue Lewis Cullipher, two sons, Eric (Jennifer) Cullipher of Grimesland, NC, Darren (Jennifer) Cullipher of Ridgeland, MS; his daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Fairless Cullipher; three grandsons, Bryce Cullipher of Wendell, NC, Grant Cullipher of Grimesland, NC, and Sutton Cullipher of Ridgeland, MS; four granddaughters, Brittany Harrell of Colerain, NC, Brandice (Nick) Hoggard of Windsor, NC, Madison Cullipher of Grimesland, NC, and Emily Cullipher of Grimesland, NC; two great granddaughters, Shelby Walker of Colerain, NC, and Ellison Hoggard of Windsor, NC; three great grandsons, Jaxson Harrell of Colerain, NC, Alex Cullipher of Wendell, NC, and Gavin Hoggard of Windsor, NC; a sister, Joyce Bracy of Ahoskie, NC; and a brother, Gene (Annie Ruth) Cullipher of Washington, NC.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 15, 2022, from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, and other times at the home.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Monday, May 16, 2022, at 11:00 am at the Bethany Baptist Church, Colerain, NC, with Rev. Tommy Tripp officiating.
