Charles Davie Hale, Sr., age 69, of Scotland Neck, died on Monday, April 25, 2022 at his residence.
He was born on February 17, 1953 to the late Paul and Lila Hale. Charles spent his entire life farming in Halifax County, NC. He enjoyed playing cards, golfing, bird hunting, and usually had a cigar in his mouth or shirt pocket. His sense of humor and steadfastness will be missed by many.
Charles is survived in death by his children, Davie Hale and wife April of Greenville, Sugar Edwards and husband Jason of Rocky Mount, West Hale and wife Ashleigh of Rocky Mount, and Emily Hale and significant other James of Robersonville. Charles also enjoyed being “Pappy” to nine grandchildren, Hannah Hale, Katherine Edwards, James Edwards, Luke Edwards, Pete Hale, Mack Hale, Evie Hale, Lily Roebuck, and Grady Roebuck.
Charles is also survived by his siblings, Paula Hale of Raleigh, Linda Johnson and husband Eddie of Scotland Neck, Tony Hale and wife Judy of Scotland Neck, and Theresa Hinnant and husband Danny of Halifax. He was blessed with many special nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Dawson Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 9775 Thirteen Bridges Road, Enfield, NC, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 2, 2022.
