Cecil Lawrence Callis age 80 of Harrellsville died Saturday, June 12, 2010 at his home. He was born July 4, 1929 in Person Co. to the late Samuel Alexander Callis and Cora Meadows Callis.

He was a US Army veteran, owner and operator of Callis Texaco for a number of years, was a farmer and truck driver and a member of Harrellsville Baptist Church.

A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Harrellsville Baptist Church. Rev. Mark Hall will officiate.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Elizabeth Aswell Callis of the home, two sons Daniel Lawrence Callis of Colerain and Cecil ‘Al’ Callis and his wife Debbie of Kittrell, a daughter Sonya Callis White of Harrellsville, a brother Sam Callis of Driver,VA, six grandchildren and a special friend to the family Wayne E. Taylor.

The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service and other times at the home.

Elizabeth, I know Cecil will be missed by you and the family and also by all his friends..which there are many..

Being in Minn. now, I do try to keep up with the people I know in NC.. I will keep you in my prayers..

I want you all to know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Mr. Callis was always such a sweetie when I would come to visit. Even though it was long ago, it seems like yesterday when I would climb all over his boat in the yard! Cherish your wonderful and precious memories each day. Know that you are loved!
