Billy W. Lovegrove

Mr. Billy ‘Bill’ W. Lovegrove, age 75 died at Vidant Heritage Hospital in Tarboro, NC on Tuesday, June 5, 2012. He was a native of Halifax County born to Gertha White Lovegrove and Alonza Watson Lovegrove. Mr. Lovegrove attended Scotland Neck High School. He served with the US Army during the Korean War for a tour of three years. Mr. Lovegrove settled in Florida where he married and had four children. He worked in sales for most of his career. Mr. Lovegrove moved to Waynesville, NC where he enjoyed the scenery and the mountains. It was in Waynesville that he would retire. Following retirement he moved back to Florida and began traveling back in forth to Scotland Neck to visit his family.

Mr. Lovegrove enjoyed collecting coins, guns and knives. He never met a stranger and enjoyed meeting and talking with people. He had a great passion for dancing. Mr. Lovegrove was a loving father and grandfather. He will truly be missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him.

Survivors include his mother, Gertha White Lovegrove Rawls, two daughters: Karen Lovegrove Peters and her husband Bob of Ft. Wayne, ID, Pam Lovegrove Kline and her husband Randy of Orlando, FL, two sons: Randy Lovegrove and Rayne Chase, Gary Lovegrove and his wife Melissa all of Orlando, FL; one sister, Louise Braddy and her husband Mahlon of Scotland Neck, NC and a special niece Sharon Braddy of Greenville, NC. Surviving are grandchildren: Dalton and Ava Peters, Candace, Brittany and Breanna Mobley and Gavin Paul Lovegrove. Also surviving is one great grandchild, Arianna Dreyer.
