Betty “Bett” Louise Baker King, age 74, of Hobgood, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 surrounded by her family. Bett was affectionately known as “Aunt B” and “BB”.
She was born on May 16, 1944 to the late Clifton and Jody Strickland Baker in Halifax County, NC. Bett was a member of the Hobgood United Methodist Church where she was very involved. She was a quality control supervisor for Glenoit Mills for forty-one years. Bett was a wonderful caregiver to all in need and gave of herself unselfishly. Bett loved being outside working in her flowers and yard. She had a tremendous love for her family and will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Bett was preceded in death by her husband, Edward “Ed” Pasture King; her brothers, Gene Baker, Harvey Baker, Robert Baker, and Joseph Baker; her sisters, Frances Baker Hearn and Evelyn Baker Keeter; her nephews, Jake Hearn and Clifton Hearn; and her great-nephew, Justin Hearn.
Bett is survived by her son, Wayne King and wife Trish of Hobgood; her grandson, Brookes King and wife Brandy of Hobgood; her great-grandchildren, Alyssa King and Ethan King; her nieces, Sissy Hearn Stewart and husband Jimmy of Scotland Neck and Lillie Baker Foskey and husband Don of Greenville; her nephew, Dale Hearn of Pleasant Hill; her great-nephews, Jimmy Ray Stewart of Scotland Neck, Austin Stewart of Scotland Neck, Tyler Hearn of Manassas, VA, and Don Foskey, Jr. of Greenville; her great-nieces, Amanda Hearn of Asheville, Jessy Storms of Greenville and Lauren Foskey of Greenville; her brother-in-law, Robert Hearn and wife Sandra of Williamston; and her special friends, Barbara House, Linda Nell Craft, and David Mayer all of Hobgood.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Letchworth-Sykes Funeral Service in Scotland Neck.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Hobgood Cemetery with the Rev. Ron Elkins and the Rev. Tommy King officiating.
