Betty Ann Goodrich Boyd, 82, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Our Community Hospital in Scotland Neck.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the Baptist Cemetery in Scotland Neck. The Reverend Doctor James Drake will be presiding.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Letchworth Funeral Home in Scotland Neck.

Betty Ann was born on October 8, 1934 in Hassell, NC to the late Thomas Edwin Goodrich and Clara Walston Goodrich. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Scotland Neck and was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. Betty Ann worked for Forrest G. Shearin Insurance and Real Estate Agency in Scotland Neck for over 40 years and as Magistrate in Halifax County for over 40 years. She and her sister, Shirley, catered food for parties and weddings in the area for many years. Betty Ann was a cherished member of the community and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, James Goodrich; and her sister, Mary Frances Goodrich Smith.

Betty Ann is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 63 years, Claude Parks Boyd, Sr.; her son, Claude Parks Boyd, Jr. of Scotland Neck; her sisters, Shirley Smith of Oak City and Betty Cuthrell and husband Charlie of Yorktown, VA; and her three grandchildren, Dana Boyd of Fort Benning, GA, Tracy Boyd of Jacksonville, FL, and Anna Paige Boyd of Houston, TX.
