Annette Bailey Turner, 81, died Sunday, April 22, 2012.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the Oak City Baptist Church in Oak City. Interment will follow at Oak City Cemetery. The Reverend Chris Shelton will be presiding.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Letchworth Funeral Home in Scotland Neck.

Annette was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was born in Hobgood and loved all of the people in her tight knit community. After graduating in 1948 from Oak City High School, Annette attended East Carolina Teacher’s College and Business College in Norfolk, VA. She was a bookkeeper in various businesses over the years, but most importantly in Turner Farms. A faithful member of Oak City Baptist Church, Annette loved her family and friends dearly and took joy in doing things for others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Marvin Bailey and Lottie Jane Holland Bailey; and her husband, Robert Edward Turner, Sr.

Annette is survived by her daughter, Lynn Turner Lanier and husband Zack of Oak City; son, Robert Edward “Rob” Turner, Jr. and wife Amy of Oak City; six grandchildren, Jessica Bailey Whitehurst, Kathryn Leigh Whitehurst, Anna Elizabeth Turner, Robert Edward Turner, III, Heather Jeannette Carter, and Joy Ann Lanier; five great-grandchildren, Adriana McKenzie Wishnask, Lillian Bailey Hodges, Sarah Michelle Carter, Giana Raynette Carter, and Austin Lee Shoe; and her special friend and caregiver, Shirley Brown.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Oak City Baptist Church, P.O. Box 39, Oak City, NC 27857 or to Hobgood Academy, 201 South Beech Street, Hobgood, NC 27843.

Arrangements are being handled by Letchworth Funeral Home in Scotland Neck.
