Alice Bazemore

February 10, 1919 - July 18, 2009

Mrs. Alice Pendleton Bazemore, age 90 died peacefully at her home on Saturday, July 18, 2009. Mrs. Bazemore was a life long resident of Scotland Neck. She was born February 10, 1919 to the late Neda Taylor and George Edmund Pendleton, Sr. Mrs. Bazemore graduated from Scotland Neck High School and attended Women’s College in Greensboro, now UNC-Greensboro. She was married to the late Cecil Smith Bazemore on August 8, 1948 and they enjoyed forty-two years of marriage. She was a member of the Scotland Neck United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and occasionally shared her talents on the piano for special events and services. She was involved with many other aspects of the church throughout her life as well. Also preceding her in death are her two sisters; Minnie Allsbrook and Neda Stalls and her brother, George E. Pendleton, Jr.

Survivors include her daughter, Neda B. Byrum and her husband Edward of Wake Forest, her son Tom Bazemore and his wife Brenda of Rocky Mount, four grandchildren; Kim Jenkins and her husband Kenny, Cameron Bazemore, Jenny Pugh and her husband Nathan and Matt Bazemore, three great grandchildren; Charlotte Pugh, Sophia Jenkins and Cecilia Jenkins, nine nieces and nephews; Nancy Edwards, Patsy Faithful, Doug Stalls, Harry Allsbrook, Alice Sharpe, Polly Staton, Peggy Black, George and Larry Pendleton, sister-in-law, Anna L. Pendleton.

The family would like to express a special thanks to the wonderful caregivers who took part in the care of Mrs. Bazemore; Maggie Mitchell, Ethel Dunham, Yolanda Lawrence, and Catherine Cancil.
